Iron Mustang Wrestling is a Folkstyle and Freestyle Club serving the Northern Metro area. We serve kids from age 4-17.

Our program goal is to develop a strong wrestling presence in the area. We are trying to get more local youth involved in wrestling at a younger age. We would like to see the local high schools, and wrestling in general, benefit from our feeder program.

We will concentrate on two styles of amateur wrestling; Folkstyle, Freestyle and spend some time with Greco-Roman.

Folkstyle is the style used in Junior Highs, High Schools and Colleges. This style will be taught during the winter months coinciding with the typical Folkstyle season for high schools.

Freestyle and Greco-Roman are the two styles used in the Olympics and internati onally. The USA has a large contingency of youth that participate in these styles throughout the spring and summer. All three styles share a very commmon thread with Freestyle and Folkstyle being very similar other than the scoring system. Greco-Roman differs in that all wrestling is done with upper body holds in which the wrestlers are not allowed to use or grab their opponents legs.

Wrestling is the world's oldest sport and has a deep rooted history throughout the world. The physical and mental skills taught in this sport are extremely valuable to kids in modern society. The concepts of hard work, discipline, commitment and the improvement of self-esteem are all examples of the character building within the sport of wrestling.
